The quest for a new host

So this is how it all got started. I have been hosting a couple of sites with a shared hosting company called Servage. I really can’t complain about them as they have been great for for the couple of years I have been with them. Unfortunately though, I have kind of outgrown them.

I use a dedicated host at my day job and really started to rely on things like SSH access and SVN so when working on personal projects it became quite a bummer not having access to these things. Also, a couple of the sites I was developing were becoming increasingly slow to load up (for no apparent reason).

So I decided to check my options…

A new beginning…

Well, this has been a long time coming actually. I always wanted to get into the whole “blogging” scene but just never seemed to find time to sort it out. Well - times are a changing!

I guess what prompted me to get my backside into gear was the fact that I have just moved webhosts. There are some neat tricks I have learnt in the process and some great web applications too - not to mention the fact that things weren’t quite plain sailing (when are they ever!?). More on that later though…
